Figure of a woman insinuated in stone

The natural shape of this pebble suggested the torso and buttocks of a female figure and only had to be slightly modified to accentuate the form. The stone was ground down to emphasise the small of the back and the lower abdomen. Although generally seen as feminine the piece might also be seen as representing a phallus. This ambiguity may be seen in other minimal pieces. Their simplicity of form undermines clear categorisation of masculine and feminine perhaps expressing a subconscious blurring of sexuality.
